About the coach house
Originally built in the 18th century for the Industrialist Sir Richard Arkwright, the Coach House is today a stunning example of an historic coach property in the heart of midlands market town of Wirksworth in the beautiful Derbyshire Dales. We have managed to preserver the majority of original features in the coach house using local craftsmen and skills and these include: original lead windows, exposed 200 year old beams, a candle lit chandelier from iron as well as an original Victorian cast iron bath.
We have incredible hillside views over the rooftops and and surrounding areas. The Coach House is a true testament to England’s industrial revolution and well preserved history. We have the popular market towns of Bakewell and Buxton within easy reach of us here in Wirksworth and of course there are excellent local walks, pubs and other points of interest.
Clearly as interior designers we adore the wealth of old stall, antique shops and other places to have a good snoop around for some bargains and we’ve found loads of local antiques which were perfect for our property when we renovated and took it back in time for the original features.
